Known all over the tri-county area for his inability to spell “photography”, Jason DeBloois has never let this bad spelling stand in the way of acquiring and using a photographic device. Not that anyone was standing in his way. But if they had been, he would have gone around them.
Due to an almost crippling social anxiety, Jason’s favorite subjects to photograph are things not involving people he does not already know; things that either do not move or move extremely slowly. Things like flowers, macros of flowers, flowers frozen in ice and various objects that move at a speed similar to that of flowers.
Many of his photos are taken in his basement studio which consists of a few light boxes, several $5 LED panels sourced from China and some surplus upholstery fabric originally meant for a 1982 Dodge Omni. “It isn’t the gear that matters most in photomatography,” he can sometimes be heard saying to an empty room. “Just enjoy what you’re doing and keep on learning and improving. Also, sugar. Sugar is super important for energy.” You should ignore that last bit. It’s nonsense.
Jason DeBloois uses Canon primarily with a lens or two from Sigma thrown in. Not literally thrown. Do not throw your lenses around, people.
